Hi, I'm Johanna!

I’m currently a UX lead and manager at Amazon, working on reimagining the customer support experience for Amazon device and digial products.

I have over 10 years of experience leading design projects and programs in a broad set of industries (healthcare, employee tools, and food delivery, to name a few!). I also have over three years of experience building and managing teams of designers and researchers.

My working style: collaborative, flexible, user-focused. I love finding elegant solutions to complex problems, and empowering my teams to do the same

My working style

I am most comfortable working in an agile/lean development process, prioritize early user feedback and participatory design, and believe that a whiteboard sketch can often serve better than a detailed specification. I enjoy partnering closely with my cross-functional product and engineering colleagues to ensure we're designing and building products that deliver the best possible experience for our users.

As a manager, I love empowering my team by removing obscacles and distractions and allowing them to focus on doing their best work. I have experience with inteviewing and hiring, team building, prioritizing and managing workloads and assignments, and providing performance and career development feedback.

I have extensive experience in all stages of the product design process, including:

  • foundational and generative research
  • vision, strategy, and north star design
  • roadmap creation and project prioritization
  • workshop design and facilitiation including design sprints and participatory design
  • creating scenarios, workflows, journey maps, task flows, wireframes, mockups, and specs
  • prototyping in Figma/Sketch/Invision/Axure
  • user validation and usability testing
  • managing post-launch feedback and iteration
